This class will PERSONALLY introduce you to domestic pigeons. You will learn about homing and fancy show pigeons. Proceeds will go to the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
This course is designed for the beginner but is open to all skill levels. Each week you will learn at least 2 different fly patterns and usually there is enough time during class to tie at least 3 flies of each pattern. In this course, you will learn how to transcribe the most common medical reports used in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This knowledge will help pre-pare you to work almost anywhere in the medical field—doctors' offices, clinics, public health facilities, and hospitals. With this foundation, you will be set to advance your education so you can work as a subcon-tractor for a company that outsources transcription, or you can eventually even take on your own clients—all from the comfort of your own home. You will go through each of the nine main report types—their formatting requirements, the components of each one, and how they are used in the clinical setting. Eve-ry lesson will include a grammar review, pointing out important elements that will make your reports per-fect. You will also gain important clinical knowledge of major disease processes that are essential to enhance your skill as a medical documentation specialist. Along the way, you will download a free transcriber to listen to dictation and produce reports. These hands-on ex-ercises will give you the practice you will need to de-termine if this field is for you. You will also go through your current options and in the future by developing the skills of a medical transcriptionist. By the end of this course, you will know the basic report types, have clinical knowledge of major diseases, be able to cor-rect grammar from dictated reports on the fly, and know the next steps you will need to take! 6 weeks: Start dates of October 19, November 16, or December 21
The Medical Terminology – A Word Association Approach course will teach you to understand medical terminology as it pertains to each body system. Using graphics and study tips you will not only learn definitions and root terms but also their application in the medical world. Learning blocks are used to condense information and to help iso-late what you need to know versus what is nice to know, and you will be provided with fun and unusual facts to help you remember the medical terminology in unique ways. You will have opportunities to see how medical terminolo-gy is used in the real world through case study assignments and will be provided with flashcards to help you study. The knowledge gained in this course will help you take the next step in your medical career or education. 3 months:
